& ABOUT THE BLOG. This is a blog for Spinner from My Hero Academia! My presence online fluctuates wildly, but let's say I'm medium activity for now. I recently remade, previously at the same URL.& OOC. Howdy – I’m Eros, they/them, I’m 25, and I’m from NYC. I work in theatre, which means my schedule can be busy & erratic. That being said, I love RP and I do tend to prioritize it after my real life obligations are satisfied, so you will see me around.& PASSWORDS. I don’t send in passwords, but I promise I’ve read your rules before following.& SELECTIVITY. I am highly selective and mutuals only. Please allow a week for me to check out your blog. Don’t message me asking to rp/plot if we are not mutuals. It puts me in a position where I feel pressured into agreeing. If I follow you, it means I want to interact! I won’t follow/interact if: you don’t have an about and/or rules page, you write “genderbent” characters, you write ships between minors/adults (even aged up), you don’t cut your posts, or you are a very cluttered multimuse.& DUPLICATES. I have really bad duplicate anxiety. You’re welcome to follow me, but unless you’re my friend or they’re on a multi, I’ll probably just avoid others of my canons. Obviously if I follow first, it's fine!& EXCLUSIVITY AND MAINS. I do have a number of mains, listed on my relationships page. I practice exclusivity on very specific cases. These muses/blogs are my current exclusives:
-Ryo Inui (Hound Dog) — beastincidents
-Setsuna Tokage (Lizardy) — beastincidents
-Rikiya Yotsubashi (Re-Destro) — ridesutoro
-Koku Hanabata (Trumpet) — toranpetto& SHIPPING. Spinner and I are both 21+. Shipping is cool with chemistry, including OCs. I am partial to spinaraki, but would never force it, and I ask that all Shigaraki blogs that follow me please read THIS regardless of whether or not you want to ship or not.& CROSSOVERS. I likely will not be writing any crossover content unless you're a friend and we've plotted a lot, especially if I don't know the fandom.& FORMATTING. I always use small text, with some stylized formatting and prose, but minimally. I also use icons when I have them, unless you don’t. Don’t feel pressured to do the same, though!& TRIGGERS. I personally have no triggers. Sensitive content that may appear on this blog: violence, death, physical abuse, unhealthy relationships, and potentially more. Please let me know if you need anything specific tagged.& COMMUNICATION. I love talking to people OOC, but sometimes I'm bad at keeping up conversation. If we’re talking through IMs or discord and I don’t reply, please don’t take it personally. I’m happy to give my discord to mutuals, and I’m always up for chatting!
kuroboro
This is a low-activity & low-priority blog for Oboro Shirakumo / Kurogiri. Because I'm lazy, this carrd is a subset of the carrd for my Spinner blog, knifelizard. It's an all in one, so keep reading for my rules & about. I am UNAFFILIATED with the BNHA rpc, as I've had some very bad experiences here before. I'm just here to write my boy.Even if we used to be mutuals on other blogs, I may not follow you here. Please don't take it personally. My portrayal of Oboro defaults to a post-canon timeline where he is in active rehabilitation and has begun to regain some of his identity. This is, however, a work in progress, and Oboro retains much of his personality as Kurogiri.

I’m happy to give my discord to mutuals, and I’m always up for chatting about plots or headcanons or our characters in general.& SHIPPING. There's a very good chance I won't ship on this blog in his main verse. Oboro is in a difficult position because post-canon, he maintains his memories and life experience as Kurogiri, but his life as Oboro picked up again at seventeen, the age he died, and he resembles a teenager as well, despite not really being one. While there are certain verses I may ship in, I will never ship him with the canon minor characters.& NON-RP BLOGS. Personal/non-rp blogs will be blocked if you follow me. I’ve just had too many bad experiences. If your RP blog is a sideblog, send me an ask right away and let me know.& DNI. Can't even believe I have to say this but get the fuck away from me if you write “genderbent” characters, you ship incest/pedophilia, or you're any form of racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc.
& SELECTIVITY. I am private, selective and mutuals only. Please allow a few days for me to check out your blog, especially if your blog is new. I look for rules & an about page and writing style/ability. I don't care about icons or graphics, but if you blog is really messy, that's going to be a turnoff. I won't even lie — I vibecheck blogs and usually know right away if we're not a good fit. I won't apologize for that.& DUPLICATES. Unless Oboro is on your multi I'm not gonna follow you. Too much duplicate anxiety, and I don't like twin AUs, so if we're not writing together what's like.... the point. I may make an exception on this for friends.& CROSSOVERS. There is a 99% chance I'm not going to write crossovers. Muses with a BNHA verse are fine, but otherwise please don't be surprised if I don't follow non-BNHA blogs. Again, friends may be exempt from this.& BOUNDARIES. Don’t message me asking to rp/plot if we are not mutuals. It puts me in a position where I feel pressured into agreeing. I also reserve the right to break the mutual for any reason & without explanation if things aren't working out or you turn out to be a weirdo. I’m not going to waste my time trying to make an interaction or a friendship work. You don’t pass my vibe check, you’re done. I've been on this website for too long to be bullshitted.& SOFTBLOCKING. I softblock blogs that I’m not interested in interacting with. It’s nothing personal, but I have limited time and energy and if I don’t see us clicking, I’m not following back. If you repeatedly keep following, I will hardblock.& MAINS AND EXCLUSIVES. I typically have mains, but rarely will I do an official mains "call". That being said, I practice exclusivity with a handful of muses:
-Neito Monoma — beastincidents
-Rikiya Yotsubashi (Re-Destro) — ridesutoro
-Mirabel Madrigal — miraclestitch

ALIASES: Loud Cloud, Kurogiri
AGES: 17 (at time of death / physically in main verse), 32 (the age he would be had he not died), and an amiguous but perhpas 30-40 (mentally as Kurogiri)
HEIGHT: 6'1
PRONOUNS: he/him (trans man)
ORIENTATION: pansexual
QUIRKS: Cloud - the ability to form clouds that he can control and ride on. Warp Gate - a quirk designed for him as Kurogiri; it is essentially a teleportation quirk. More description of the quirks used to create Warp Gate can be found here.
ASSOCIATIONS/AFFILIATIONS: U.A. High, AFO/Shigaraki, the League of Villains, himself
POSITIVE TRAITS: bold, tender, protective, responsible
NEGATIVE TRAITS: reckless, impulsive, stubborn, easily distracted

Oboro was a second year student at U.A. High School, training to be a hero. Though he had below average grades and lacked poise and finesse in his skills, he had a big heart and a strong desire to do good in the world. He easily befriended Shouta Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada in his first year, and the three of them were an unstoppable team, balancing each other out socially and in training. Through his work study alongside Shouta, Oboro honed his skills, becoming a strong and efficient fighter. When fighting a villain during his work study, Oboro was struck by a crumbling building and killed. His body was stolen and swapped out in the hospital by Dr. Ujiko, and served as the base for the nomu Kurogiri, created to be a caretaker and protector for the young Tomura Shigaraki. The head trauma Oboro experienced in the accident, combined with the nomu creation process which scrambles the brain beyond recognition, seemed to wipe out any consciousness of Oboro's that was left. However, Kurogiri's tender and caring personality, combined with his inability to leave anyone in need behind, was based in traits of Oboro's in the same way his quirk, Warp Gate, was formed from Cloud. For fifteen years, Kurogiri served AFO and Shigaraki, until he was captured by Gran Torino and transported to Tartarus prison. There, following an investigation and research into his quirk, the truth behind his origins was discovered and revealed to his old friends. Aizawa and Yamada came to see him, in the hopes of extracting information from Kurogiri. After much strain, memories of Oboro's buried deep within Kurogiri's mind were triggered by Aizawa's voice, and he showed a glimmer of recognition, his face briefly visible behind the fog, and he revealed the location of the facility where Shigaraki was being kept. Though he shut down immediately after, this was a breakthrough.Over the months that followed, Kurogiri began to undergo rehabilitative procedures and counseling, in the hope of reviving Oboro's consciousness again. It was a long and difficult process, but progress was being made. Slowly but surely, he began to come back to himself, more and more.
Notes
Oboro died from a traumatic head injury. Much of this was healed during the nomu procedures as well as during his rehabilitation, but he has heavy scarring on his head/forehead, and sustained significant brain damage.
When distressed or agitated, Oboro displays certain Kurogiri-isms — fog, yellow-flared eyes, a drop in his voice, even a change in the way he talks. This can be triggered by memories of his past experiences, or by unrelated catalysts.
Oboro also retained the affection for and duty to protect Shigaraki as Kurogiri, something that causes him great distress.
Oboro is very distrustful during his rehabilitation, only responding to the people he knew as a child.

Nozomi Iguchi.
Default - 20 years post-canon.
19 || she/her || bi || quirk: decay (lizard mutation)The daughter of Shuichi Iguchi and Tenko Shimura, Nozomi was born about a year after the end of the Paranormal Liberation War. The pair fled to Shuichi's family's home in the country, leaving the crime life behind. Nozomi is currently a univesity student studying social work, and interns at the Central Agency for Child Protective and Social Services. Nozomi's focus is children at risk of turning to villainy, and she is writing her thesis on the mutant-to-villain pipeline. She loves her dads very much, and is no fan of heroes, but she wants to live a normal life as much as possible.About Decay: Nozomi inherited a more or less seamless blend of her two fathers’ quirks, which is… not the most fortunate thing in the world. in the same way as Tenko, if she touches anything with all 5 fingers, it will begin to erode; fortunately, because of the sticky micro hairs on her fingers, the process is somewhat slowed and not as instantaneous. nonetheless, she usually wears artist gloves for safety.

Eisuke Yukato.
Default - 20 years post-canon, other verses available.
23 || they/them || aroace || quirk: mappingEisuke is a college dropout due to a combination of financial strains and aimlessness; they had no real plans or ambitions and never worked particular hard in their classes so they just… stopped. ‘Real life’ seemed much more important than schooling anyway, what with all the injustices in the world. Or so they say. They’ve had friends go to prison for minor infractions, and a while back took an interest in the inner workings of the highest security prisons for dangerous villains. The more they learned, they more angry they became. They found more people online who shared their feelings, and over time, those people realized that with their quirks, they had the ability to not just advocate for change — something that may never happen — but actually do something about it. So the prison reform advocates became jailbreakers, with Eisuke not necessarily in charge, but certainly using their own quirk to organize prison breaks.About Mapping: mapping allows them to see the physical landscape of any place in the world, as long as they actually know the location. Essentially their eyes divide their vision into scrollable “screens”. They can only see these landscapes from an overhead view unless they are within 1 km, where they can switch with one eye to “street view”. In order to use their quirk at full power, they have to use both eyes, although they can activate it in only one for a more limited view. However, when their quirk is active, they cannot see their current surroundings. To get around this, they have a support item - a pair of glasses which works to combat the visual limitation by enabling them to project their maps onto the lenses and then see normally. The glasses give them a headache after a short period of time. They can also do the same on any blank screen.

About
** QUICK STATS
Name: Toshinori Yagi
Hero name: All Might
Age: 48 (as of ch. 1)
Pronouns he/him (please note that my All Might is a trans man)
Birthdate: June 10
Sexuality: Bi, with a preference for men
Height: 7'2" (with a serious slouch in his weak form that makes him seem shorter)
Quirk: One For All
Associations/Affiliations: No. 1 hero, teacher at UA High School
Positive Traits: brave, charismatic, idealistic, strong, proud, optimistic
Negative traits: reckless, workaholic, single-minded, despondent (in the later years)
** PERSONALITY
All Might, ever since he was a young man, has had a boisterous, energetic personality, a can-do attitude, and an apparent absence of self-doubt and fear. With a strong sense of justice, he has the (perhaps misguided but ultimately accurate) belief that he can save everyone, and sets out to achieve that goal, dubbing himself the Symbol of Peace and a pillar of justice, titles which the world soon picks up on. He has ego without arrogance, and is always kind, charismatic, and thoughtful... at least in his younger days, and when he's in his hero persona.Although he tends to drum up the theatrics in public, up until his initial battle with All For One, All Might always to kept a positive and optimistic attitude. That's just who he is as a person. Remnants of that long-faded passion come out at times, but it's often overshadowed by melancholy, exhaustion, and a sense of hopelessness. Which leads us to...In his weak form, in the years following the first defeat of All For One and his subsequent injury, All Might drops the heroic savior act and falls into somewhat of a depression. After his separation from Sir Nighteye, he accepts his prophesied fate. He pushes harder, determined to fight until the end, but it leaves him with little energy to even bother staying positive when he's not in the public eye. He can be blunt, bordering on rude and standoffish, irritable, and despondent. However, when something gets him fired up, even in his weaker form, some of his old passion shines through, and it's almost easy to forget that he doesn't look like the symbol of peace everyone knows and loves. It's harder when he completely loses his power and is forced to retire, but he still has his moments, small joys he gains through teaching his students and mentoring Izuku Midoriya.
** BIOGRAPHY
Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, was born quirkless. Still, he has dreams and ideals surrounding pro-hero culture, and a desire to become a pillar at the center of it all, despite having no powers. To counter this, he began working out to bolster his physical strength, in hopes of being able to achieve his dream even without a quirk. He lost his parents while he was in middle school, but his spirits never faltered. It was around this time, when he was 13-14, that he realized he was trans He began to change the way he presented, but otherwise did nothing to transition, due to a lack of support and resources. Instead, he upped his training regiment to bulk up more, furthering his growing strength. In his last year of middle school, Toshinori met Nana Shimura, the then-holder of One For All. They got to talking about his dreams and ideals, and after a consultation with her friend Gran Torino, she decided to pass her quirk onto him. With his impressive strength, he handled the quirk fairly easily right from the beginning. His training with Shimura began, and he was accepted into the UA Hero Course.(One For All helped Toshinori in other ways besides physical power. It became, for him, a substitution for Testosterone, allowing him to fully embrace his identity without hormones. No I don't know how or why this works, I just know One For All is a metaphor for being trans, in this essay I will---)He trained under his mentor for two years until she was killed tragically by All For One. At this point, Gran Torino took over Toshinori's training fully. By this point, Toshinori, who has already chosen the hero name All Might, showed incredible promise, rising to the top of UA's ranks. His power was nearly unmatched, but he lacked experience, so upon graduation, he went to America to do hero work for five years. It was here that he met his eventual friend and partner, David Shield, who ended up designing his costumes throughout his career. When he returned to Japan, All Might made his official debut, and quickly shot to the top of the billboard rankings to #1, where he remained until his retirement. He gained world renown, but his popularity was most notable in Japan, where he was based. He had a long and successful career, winning every battle, saving people with a smile, and representing justice as the Symbol of Peace he'd always dreamed of being. And through it all, he never did it for the fame and glory nor the money. He believed firmly that self-sacrifice was a core part of being a hero, and he constantly pushed his limits further and further so that the entire world would know there was a hero defending the people against evil. Crime rates plummeted, and All Might just kept going. He eventually teamed up with the hero Sir Nighteye, after working solo for so long, because he recognized the usefulness the man's intelligence and foresight quirk brought to his operations. However, after a few years, All Might faced One For All for the first time since Shimura's death. He defeated the villain, presumed dead, but was gravely injured. As a result, his ability to maintain his hero form and to use his quirk decreased exponentially. Though he recovered, his health never reached peak, and began steadily declining over time. Sir Nighteye begged him to retire while he could, to hopefully avoid the fate his foresight painted -- a gruesome and bloody death. But All Might refused, and the two parted ways.Accepting that death was inevitable, and would come within the next 6-7 years, All Might began the search for a successor, someone who could take up the mantle of the Symbol of Peace as well as inherit his quirk. Principal Nezu told him he could choose a UA student, recommending Mirio Togata. All Might began moving his operations to the city in preparation to scout the school, but before he had a chance to meet Mirio or anyone else, he encountered Izuku Midoriya.Though weak, quirkless, and nothing more than a fanboy, Izuku wanted nothing more than to be a hero just like All Might. He disregarded him, even going to far as to bluntly tell the boy that he could never be a hero without a quirk. But when he witnessed Izuku rush into action against a villain, while he stood by and watched (believing he didn't have the power to transform), All Might was moved to action as well. He found within him the strength to push past his limit, and more importantly, rekindled the spark that had once lived inside him, spurring him to become a hero even while powerless. He tracked down Izuku, and offered to pass on his quirk to him, convinced that he had met the perfect person to succeed him.Training began, All Might working Izuku hard for ten months to prepare him for the UA entrance exam. At the end of that, he passed on One For All, and Izuku was accepted. The power began to fade from All Might faster, but for the time being, still existed inside him.Prior to meeting Izuku, All Might accepted a teaching position at UA, both as a way of finding a successor and as an excuse to cut back on his hero work. The first point now moot, he threw his focus into teaching and mentoring Izuku.Still, he never slowed down in the field, despite the protests of his colleagues. As a result, his strength dwindled faster and faster, until one fateful night in Kamino Ward, All Might fought All For One for the last time. He once again defeated the villain, but it used up the very last of his power. Reduced to his weak form mid-fight, broadcasted on live TV, All Might used his ultimate move for the final time, and the last traces of One For All left his body. The age of All Might, the Symbol of Peace, was over. But he survived, though he had expected to perish in the fight. For a while, he was listless, uncertain about what retirement would mean for him, and fearful that he had failed to train Izuku well enough to take on this burden. But ultimately, he decided to live, to keep fighting his own battle, to continue teaching the UA students, and most importantly, to continue training and raising Izuku to be the best hero he could be.Such was his new way of life. There were some who lost respect for All Might after that, who saw his weak, skeletal form, and looked down on him. But there were so many others who continued to laud him as a hero, who still looked up to him, who still loved and revered him, even as Endeavor rose to the #1 spot. And so life went on, as he continued to settle in and adjust, and his fighting spirit persists within Izuku.
** VERSES
golden age ( v1 ; main )
This verse takes place in the few years preceding ch. 1, leading up to All Might's retirement. Unspecified interactions will most likely take place here.fighting fate ( v2 ; retirement )
This verse takes place after the incident at Kamino Ward, when All Might has lost his power and his true form revealed to the world. Any interactions taking place after this point while be in this verse.bronze age ( v3 ; young )
I don't expect to use this verse very much, but anything that happens when he is in school or in the early years of his career will take place here.kind heart young mind ( v4 ; switch )
An AU which I will type up more later lollook into the monster’s eyes; what do you see? ( v5 ; nomu )
following all for one (@awfulonetm)’s escape from tartarus prison, and the subsequent disappearance of the retired former pro hero all might, things begin to change.the nomu attacks by the league of villains are more frequent, more severe, and a lot more difficult to suppress.it seems they have a new weapon as well.at first glance, this nomu is like the others ; deformed, monstrous, bloodthirsty, and completely under the control of its master. but something is different.if you dare look into the monster’s eyes, you may see a fighting spirit, wild and terrified, and deep melancholy. you may make out pinprick blue irises against black sclerae. you may recognize the man who once went by toshinori yagi, though that name is long forgotten.he’s alive in there, somewhere. but the greatest hero of all time is now on the side of the villains.INFO ;; this verse, while open to interactions, will be used selectively. it is exclusive to awfulonetm's ankoku shigaraki and 0first0holder0′s tenshi shigaraki. all portrayals of other characters are welcome to interact.
i will have a visual reference for nomu!might soon, but in the meantime, imagine that he looks like one of the big strong nomus, with slightly yellowed skin. the creepy nomu smile is oddly reminiscent of his classic all might grin. matted remnants of golden hair hangs in curtains around his face, and those eyes.... unmistakable.
the nomu!might verse has a few branches.1) nomu all might, now known only as toshi, remains indefinitely under the control of afo
2) toshi is killed in a fight against the heroes, likely as part of an assassination attempt on izuku midoriya. who kills him and why is case-by-case ; regardless, it’s a mercy.
3) toshi is captured by the heroes during a fight, and slowly rehabilitated. it’s a long process to break his programming and restore him to the man he once was, but no one is willing to give up on their symbol of peace.

While it's hard to say if these interests are a result of his quirk, or simply a fitting coincidence, his bond with the demon he calls Dark Shadow is enhanced by his deep connection to the occult. He isn't the most social of creatures, often preferring solitude and his own company to that of his peers. However, he's always happy to spend time with the rest of 1-A between classes, and will sometimes venture out into the common room in hid downtime if there are people hanging out in there. That being said, he's likely to be silent the entire time, rarely joining in the conversation. Instead, he listens (how attentive he is depends on how meaningful the conversation is) and observes, occasionally making a comment here or there. Because of this, no one in the class knows much about him, as he rarely offers up personal information and doesn't spend enough time with anyone to let them get to know him. This 'loner' lifestyle does sometimes make Tokoyami feel left out, he knows its his own doing and not a reflection of his classmates' opinions on him. In fact, they generally all think highly of him in terms of skill and ability, even if they're not quite sure what to make of him as a person. He can come off as aloof and disinterested, and that isn't an incorrect perception. However, speaking to him one-on-one, especially if you display a genuine interest in his interests, it's not too difficult to get him talking. He mainly keeps to himself because he doesn't think anyone else will care for his interests, and may even judge him for it, so he prefers to not let anyone see beneath his exterior. He considers Dark Shadow to be his best friend, and while some might pity him for that, Tokoyami is happy that way. Dark Shadow is his oldest companion, a loyal protector, and with a personality of its own, the one 'person' who, in Tokoyami's own words, "understands him".Although he rarely shows it, Tokoyami harbors deep insecurities that he does his best to bury until they burst forth at often inconvenient times. At the top, there's the fear that he'll be seen as a villain because he has what appears to be a villainous quirk. It isn't until he starts training intensively at UA that he feels comfortable using Dark Shadow in complete darkness, because he fears it will overtake not only his quirk, but him as well if he loses control. Then there's the fear of not being understood and being judged, which he combats by not letting many people from the hero course into his life. He prefers to keep things professional with them. And then of course, he fears failure and shame, which lends itself to a short temper, outbursts of anger and frustration, and a tendency to become overwhelmed to the point of completely shutting down. When this happens, Dark Shadow will "take over", though what that means exactly is dependent on the circumstance itself.
** BIOGRAPHY
So we don't really know anything about Tokoyami's backstory or family or anything. I'm going to come up with all of that stuff eventually, but for now I'll just drop some headcanons below...- Contrary to popular belief, Tokoyami does have friends he socializes with at UA. They're just not in the hero course. He's good at reading people, from being quiet and observing, and he clocks early on that none of them are going to understand or click with his personality and interests. This isn't a bad thing -- he actually prefers to keep things professional with his classmates. But he actually befriends a number of students from general studies and a few from support and the business courses, who he hangs out with when he has the time. He's in two D&D groups, one with his online friends, and one on he DMs on the UA campus that he started in his first week of school.
- He's fluent in Japanese and JSL, but his English leaves a lot to be desired.
- After the concert at the festival, he gets a lot closer with his classmates. He rediscovers his love of music and spends much more time hanging out with Jirou especially.

Name: Shuichi Iguchi
Alias Spinner
Age: 21
Pronouns he/him
Birthdate: August 8
Sexuality: gay
Height: 5'8"
Quirk: Gecko
Associations/Affiliations: League of Villains, Paranormal Liberation Front
Positive Traits: passionate, protective, strong
Negative traits: cynical, easy influenced, mindless
** PERSONALITY
Spinner is, in many ways, the moral backbone of the League of Villains. Despite how the group has strayed from Stain's ideals, he still uses the man's principles as a guide. He's a good, kind man at heart, not one to leave someone behind in a time of need. And yet, he turned down the path of villainy with no regrets. He doesn't mind hurting heroes, he doesn't mind messing with them. But he won't hurt just anyone, and he cares deeply for his friends. He follows Stain's ideology to a fault, and therefore will protect anyone who Stain deemed worthy (such as Izuku Midoriya), even against orders. If push came to shove, he holds little doubt that he would kill in defense of himself or his friends. But taking a life is a step he has yet to take, and it's one he isn't quite ready for. It is here that his resolve crumbles, it is here that his will diverges from Stain's.Outside of being a villain, he's... not too different from a normal 21 year old boy. He loves video games and cosplay. He's moody and prone to bouts of anger, and has too much testosterone for his own good sometimes. He's a bit of a cynic, finding his purpose in other people. First, it was Stain and his ideals. Then it was Shigaraki. And he's okay with that.
" I’ve got nothing to love, like Toga does. Nothing I really wanna do. ... Sure, I’m just a nobody who jumped on a bandwagon but what’s wrong with that!? Nothing, right!? "
Regarding sexuality, he's gay, and has had a moderate amount of sexual experience, through his later years of high school. Mostly boys who were more curious about what it's like to be with someone with a lizard quirk, ones who wanted to know if he has two dicks (he does). Aside from that, he's never been in a relatationship; yet despite this, he's a romantic at heart. As a young child, he dreamed of what it would be like to to be loved, to have a fairytale love story, to get married. But those dreams were dashed early on.( Regarding shipping, please know that I write Spinner as having romantic feelings for Shigaraki, to varying degrees depending on the portrayal/interaction/timeline. I do ship with a few Shigarakis, and am open to more! What I love about this dynamic is that it can be wildly different from portrayal to portrayal. However, I will NEVER force a ship on you. And if you're uncomfortable ooc with Spinner's advances/flirting/crush, just let me know I'm happy to tone it down. For more shipping details, scroll down to the shipping section below! )
** FAMILY
Shuichi cares for his family a lot. He has a large family, most of whom have some variant of reptilian quirks, but none of their mutations are as drastic as his. The following family members are the ones he lived with...Father: Rin Iguchi
Age: 46
He bears the tail, sharp teeth, and spines of an iguana, but none of the other features — no scales, no green skin, no snout. not the flashiest quirk, but a fairly strong one; had he decided to do anything with his life beyond working in construction, it could’ve been quite handy.Mother: Shun Iguchi (Kanda)
Age: 41
She has the tail of a racerunner, as well as streaks in her hair and pale markings on her skin mirroring the common six-stripe pattern of the species. Her quirk grants her superspeed, with her tail giving her an extra boost as well as balance. She was a competitive runner in school until she settled down — she married young.Sister: Ekiko Iguchi
Age: 14
Her quirk is chameleon, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. She can camouflage herself, and she’s blessed enough to not have very many mutations — large green eyes which are honestly just really pretty, a few patches of skin that are more like scales, her nose and mouth a little more angled and snout-like than human, but otherwise, she’s the most normal-looking of the bunch.Grandmother: Yoshiko Iguchi
Age: 76
She has the black and yellow speckled skin of a fire salamander, and she can produce toxic venom. Not the kind of person you’d want to have angry at you! but she loves her family, and they love her.Uncle: Ryuuji Kanda
Age: 30
He has a bearded dragon mutation. His head resembles that of the aforementioned lizard, but the rest of his body is fully humanoid. Like his reptilian counterpart, he can be aggressive, has sharp teeth and isn’t afraid to use them, and also produces a low-toxicity venom. He doesn’t do much — he works at the market in town part time, just enough to pay rent which is the only reason he’s living with his sister and her family.
** BIOGRAPHY
The world loves quirks, and in most parts of Japan, even those with mutant quirks are held in high regard. To have any sort of difference makes you special. But not everywhere. And certainly not in Urugi, a tiny village of 500 in Nagano Prefecture. For Shuichi Iguchi, discrimination was commonplace.
" i was born in a real backwater place, stuck in the last century . around there, i was known as the LIZARD FREAK . and i just accepted it ! that whole time, my heart … was totally empty !
Perhaps at one time, Shuichi believed in goodness. In happy endings, in a place where he could have the same kind of life as the other kids he went to school with. For the first few years of his life, he was sheltered, naive to the cruelty of the world. And then something changed. Called names, emotionally and physically abused by his peers, his teachers, the other people in his village, he took them at their words. He was a freak. Horrific, disgusting, vermin — unworthy of being loved. Unable to be loved. Even in a family of reptilian quirks, he was by far the most different. He accepted the truth — this world had nothing to offer him. He had no place here, or anywhere. No purpose in life. And no one told him any different. When he was denied service in stores and restaurants, no one stood up for him. When he was jumped on his way home from school, his tail brutally mangled by three boys who wanted to see if it could come off, no one came to save him. And when he was told, over and over again, that no one would ever dare be seen with him, no one proved them wrong. Where were the so-called heroes when he needed them?Heroism was never in the cards. Not with his looks. Not with his stupid, useless quirk that did little more than allow him to cling to walls. And certainly not with the little money his parents made, not nearly enough for a fancy school. And so he shut himself away. Free time was spent in his room, playing video games to occupy his time and let out his frustrations. He took up cosplay, a chance to be someone else, if only for a little while. His creations never saw the light of day, too afraid for his image to be out in the world, knowing what people would say. But he was good. Talented with a sewing machine, a real eye for design, and a surprisingly in-depth knowledge of patterns and gear.Still, it did little to ease his burden. His heart was still empty, numb. Completely hollow. He would live like this, and he would die like this, accomplishing nothing, believing in nothing, loving nothing. Not even his family, despite their attempts at solidarity, could break him out of the funk he'd been in since the day he turned five. And then one cold spring night on the evening news, he heard about Stain, the Hero Killer. Everything changed after that.Stain was a man who understood just how awful society really was. And at the center of it all, the true cause of the obscene lack of empathy? Heroes. Modern day heroes don't care about the people they claim to protect? The care about fame and popularity, notoriety and wealth. The moment a person accepts payment for saving a life, they stop being a hero, Stain said. It made sense to Shuichi. Everything Stain said aligned with his own experiences — or lack thereof — with heroes. Even the kids at his high school with big dreams of becoming heroes never once came to his defense. Why would that ever change? All Might alone was worthy. All Might alone had the true spirit of a hero. Even when Shuichi learned about all the heroes who had died at Stain's hand, the ones who he'd gravely injured, he felt no sympathy. He did his research on them, and found them to be just as disappointing as Stain had. Ingenium. Native. Endeavor, the #2 pro who had taken him down. None of them deserved to be called heroes. For the first time, Shuichi believed in something.
" he was trying to change the world on his own ! that was the day i realized how suffocating society really is. i just couldn’t take it anymore ! something lit a fire in my heart. all I could think was how i wanted a glimpse of the future he was imagining ! "
This life, this overwhelming emptiness — it wasn't normal. It wasn't right. He didn't deserve the pain and suffering he'd been dealt at the hands of the people around him. No one should be forced to conform to the status quo set by people who rule over them with an iron fist and false heroics. Stain wanted to fix the broken system, and since he failed, Shuichi made a promise to himself to see his dream fufilled, one way or another. The news said Stain was connected to the League of Villains. He knew what he had to do. Shuichi was taking control of his own life. After a week of preparation, he left home with nothing but a backpack, a replica sword from his favorite anime, and a costume, made by him and designed in Stain's image. He told no one where was going. No goodbyes for his family — he couldn't handle the heartbreak, and he didn't want to lie. They'd never understand, and he couldn't begin to try and explain. A four hour walk in the middle of the night took him to the nearest train station, a few hours to Hosu city, and then a few more days of travel until he was finally able to track down the League at their hideout in Kamino Ward. And as it turned out, he wasn't the only one who was drawn to the villain organization by Stain's will. Within the League, Shuichi found likeminded people who shared the same values.... or something along those lines. He took on the alias Spinner — the one who would spin the web of Stain's dreams into a reality. It took some time for him to prove himself, but the Vanguard Action Squad's victory at the training camp put some points in his favor. And over time, the League became like family, through their failures and successes, all under the leadership of Tomura Shigaraki.Unfortunately for Shuichi, their leader cared little for Stain's ideals, and he found himself caught between a loyalty to the people who took him in without question and the man who inspired him to be here in the first place. He had little interest in Shigaraki's grand plans of destruction, the total decimation of society. It didn't seem in line with Stain's values. The death of civilians and innocent people, even the ones who were trying to help — it didn't seem right. But he was in no position to argue too much, so he kept his mouth shut. And in the months that followed, life got worse for the League. A potential alliance with the Yakuza fell through, resulting in the death of one of their closest comrades Magne. Shuichi was heartbroken. It was the first time the League had suffered a major blow, and the ensuing damage left them aimless and alone. With no money, no backup, no place to hide, the League went on the run. Sleeping in abandoned buildings, scraping together what little money they could and stealing food with when they couldn't, they traveled from place to place. Shigaraki seemed listless. He had no plan. He had no power. They needed help, and none was coming.Shuichi felt for the first time that maybe he'd made a mistake. They'd had a good run, defeated some heroes, but playtime was over. He was tired of this. Tired of constantly running, tired of still feeling out of place despite everything they've been through together. He wanted to go home. But mostly, he wanted Shigaraki to pull through. To step up and be the leader Shuichi knew he could be, if he would just make a move.
" i don’t get why we’re sitting around doing nothing ! i was ready to have some new life breathed into me ! to be inspired ! so answer me, shigaraki ! where’re we going ?! "
Eventually, the League was summoned to Deika City, home of the Meta Liberation Army. The two groups clashed, but Shigaraki came out on top. In a single move, he managed to defeat the MLA's leader Re-Destro, and claimed his victory. And as Shuichi watched him, standing above the once-powerful leader, a bright shining beacon, he understood. He realized that everything they'd been working for, every hardship they faced, it was worth it. Not for the end of the world as they knew it, not even for the downfall of hero society. No — everything was for one man and his dreams.
" that warped, crumbling horizon ... i’d never seen anything more beautiful . ”
Life had beat Shuichi Iguchi into the ground time and time again, and it was only for his own lack of feeling that he got up each time. For so long, he'd seen nothing in the world worth loving. No future. To an outsider, he may have appeared to be a skeptic.' But skeptic that he may have been, he had one fanatical devotion, not for an idea, a creed, a value or a mission, but for a man — for Shigaraki. Shuichi admired, loved, and venerated Shigaraki. In what way did Shigaraki subjugate him? By ideas? No. By character. A phenomenon often seen. A skeptic adhering to a believer; that is as simple as the law of complementary colours. What we lack attracts us. Nobody loves the light like a blind man. Shuichi, in whom doubt was creeping, loved to see faith soaring in Shigaraki. He had need of Shigaraki. Without understanding it clearly, and without trying to explain it, that chaste, healthy, firm, direct, hard, candid nature charmed him. He admired, by instinct, his opposite. His soft, wavering, disjointed, diseased, deformed ideas, attached themselves to Shigaraki as to a backbone. His moral spine leaned upon that firmness. Shuichi, by the side of Shigaraki, became somebody again. '
-Passage adapted from Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.
" you don't believe in anything. ”
" i believe in you. "
The MLA and the League of Villains reformed as a new organization, christened the Paranormal Liberation Front — a name chosen by Shuichi himself along with Re-Destro. The fallen leader became a lieutenant, alongside Shucihi and the other former League members, and Shigaraki rose as the Grand Commander. And as Shuichi adjusted once again to his new life and his new position, it was like being reborn again. He maintained his cynicism, and never quite warmed up to the former MLA's ideals, reduced to entrails as they may have been. But he played the part well, the right-hand man of Tomura Shigaraki. And at his side he remained, through the war, through everything, his faith never wavering.
** VERSES
Main Verse
Follows canon, present through the manga. Spinner joins the LOV following Stain's defeat, later becoming a lieutenant in the Paranomal Liberation FrontRedemption Verse
Begins just before the start of the MVA arc, after the Shie Hassaikai arc and before the PLF arc. Shuichi is on a solo mission to try and scout a new hideout for the League. He's attacked by a young hero-in-training, a UA student named Nomiko Mushimura (the-b0neyard), and she manages to capture and apprehend him. He's arrested, but after a week in Tartarus, he's visited by pro hero and UA teacher Hound Dog. Perhaps part of it is mutant solidarity, but he sees potential within Shuichi, and offers him a chance at rehabilitation. Slowly but surely, he warms up to the hero, becoming disillusioned with the actions of his former teammates, though he still believes strongly in Stain’s ideals. As it becomes clearer and clearer that he’s not going to return to his old life, he’s sort of taken in by the ( less popular ) UA staff. He still cares deeply for his friends from the League, and it’s difficult having his heart in two places, but the home and family Shuichi finds at UA is unlike anything he’s ever had before.
This verse is open to whoever, but please just know that everything mentioned here will be canon in any threads
** SHIPPING
ONE. I am open to any and all new ships, with the caveat that Spinner is gay, and I will only ship with characters over 18. I don't generally have an upper age limit, and he doesn't either, though he's likely to be most attracted to the 20-35 range.TWO. As mentioned earlier. I do ship Spinaraki/Spinneraki. However, I would never force a ship on anyone. If you ship it too and want to jump right into shipping, as long as we vibe as writers (i’d like to have at least written something already OR talk ooc) then i’m good with that. Or if you’d rather see how it goes, that’s fine too! All that being said, I consider Spinner to be in love with Shigaraki, regardless of whether or not those feelings are reciprocated. He may or may not be super forward or obvious about it, and he won’t make a move unless it’s something we’ve discussed OOC in some capacity. However, he likely will be pining over Shigaraki no matter what, and this is something that may worm its way into mentions in other threads. I am perfectly fine with one-sided unreciprocated love. Just because Spinner has feelings for Shigaraki doesn’t mean I or he expect anything. And if this does make you uncomfortable OOC, please just let me know and I’ll make sure to not bring it up in threads.THREE. He's very very gay, a hopeless romantic, and can be pretty forward….. unless it’s someone he knows well. Strangers, he has no problem flirting with and trying to hit up. But if you’re his friend he’s going to be a lot shyer. He just doesn’t want to mess anything up.FOUR. In Spinner's redemption verse, my main ship for Spinner is with Takai (ohcataclysm). I will sometimes mention him in threads, but it depends on context. I might write other ships in this verse, but it's not likely, and I will usually default to this one/mention it in threads.
